Tradescantia are a family of 75 species from America , are relatively hardy, hence their vernacular name of "misery", which is not stolen.
This tradescantia produces large, very fleshy leaves, the underside of these leaves is purple in color . It is very easy to take cuttings, you will have to cut the highest leaves if you want the plant to dwarf (small leaves and short internode).
Our purple Tradescantia zebrina has very large leaves and a shiny veil which adds to its aesthetic quality.
