Plectranthus venteri , now classified as Coleus venteri , is native to the rocky and arid areas of South Africa . Botanically, this Lamiaceae is distinguished by its fleshy and aromatic (rather lemony) foliage, covered with glandular hairs.

Although drought tolerant and sun loving, it can be grown in an open terrarium , where its habit and olfactory interest are appreciated, provided excellent drainage and sufficient ventilation are ensured to avoid stagnant moisture.

Growing tips for Plectranthus venteri

Light

Prefers full sun to bright partial shade. Indoors, place it near a sunny window.

Watering

Allow the substrate to dry out on the surface between waterings. It tolerates drought and does not tolerate overwatering.

Substrate

Use a well-draining mix, such as potting soil for cacti or succulents.

Temperature

Ideally between 10°C and 26°C. Protect it from frost (temperatures below 5-7°C).
