Native to South America , it is a particularly robust plant which, although it only tolerates short frosts, is perfectly tolerant of a lack of water and extreme heat.

Tradescantia cerinthoides: Growing tips for lovers of unusual plants

Light

Soft but sufficient light can also be intense. Tradescantia cerinthoides thrives in bright, indirect light.

Watering

Allow the potting soil to dry slightly between waterings. Place your finger about 2-3 cm into the soil; if it feels dry, it's time to water. Water thoroughly until water runs out of the drainage holes. Empty the saucer to prevent the roots from sitting in water, which can lead to rot.

Substrate

A good quality indoor plant potting mix is ideal. Good drainage is crucial to prevent waterlogging at the roots.

Size and Maintenance

Regularly pinch back stem tips to encourage branching and create a fuller, bushier plant. Dead Leaf Removal: Remove yellowing or wilted leaves to maintain plant aesthetics and prevent disease.
