Growing Tips for Marcgravia sintenisii

To grow Marcgravia sintenisii , a rare tropical plant, it is essential to recreate a humid and temperate environment. Ideally, place it in a terrarium or a place where it will receive moderate to low indirect light, as too much light can cause discolor its leaves.

Lighting

This plant prefers medium to low indirect light to mimic the filtered light of its natural rainforest habitat. Avoid direct light, which can burn or discolor its leaves.

Substrate and humidity

Use a light, well-drained substrate, such as a mixture of sphagnum moss and perlite , which will retain moisture without becoming soggy. To maintain high humidity levels (ideally above 70%), grow in a terrarium is ideal

Watering

Keep the soil constantly moist without excess. Water regularly with non-calcareous water , but make sure that the substrate does not become soggy to avoid root rot. In winter, reduce watering slightly, as the plant goes dormant

Temperature and fertilization

Marcgravia sintenisii prefers temperatures between 18 and 25°C, typical of tropical climates. During the growing season (spring and summer), fertilize with a diluted fertilizer once a month to support its growth.

Growth and support

It is a climbing plant that appreciates a support to cling to, such as atree fern plate or natural bark . This promotes the adhesion of its roots and simulates its natural environment.
