Dryopteris erythrosora is an easy and undemanding plant, ideal for shade gardens.
Favor shade or partial shade. Subdued light is ideal for preserving the brightness and color of the foliage. Direct sunlight during the hottest hours of the day should be avoided, as it can burn the fronds.
It thrives in moist, humus-rich, well-drained soil. Slightly acidic to neutral soil is ideal. Make sure the soil never dries out completely in summer.
Keep the soil moist but not soggy, especially during hot, dry periods, especially the first year after planting.
Simply remove the old, faded fronds in spring to make way for colorful new growth. It has a clump-forming habit and is not invasive.
