Hoya cummingiana cultivation and maintenance

Substrate for Hoya

The location of your Hoya cummingiana will greatly affect its substrate requirements. You can use either a professional quality horticultural soil or a special mixture composed of 50% blond peat , 25% horticultural soil and 25% perlite .

Xaxim, whether in a plate or pot , is also an excellent solution as a growing medium because the root system of Hoyas in general grows very vigorously there.

Temperatures

Hoya macrophylla variegata does not like temperatures that are too low. Do not drop below 13°C, possibly 10°C but very occasionally. As long as it does not suffer from a lack of water, it will withstand high temperatures but will grow less well above 25°C.

Watering Hoya cummingiana

Like many other Hoyas, Hoya cummingiana appreciates osmosis water or rainwater. Make sure to never have water in the saucer and space out waterings sufficiently so that the surface of the substrate dries between two waterings. Respect a vegetative rest in winter by spacing waterings two weeks apart depending on the size of your pot.

Ideal brightness

This Hoya appreciates strong light but not direct sunlight . A partial shade exposure can also be suitable but will see your Hoya macrophylla variegata grow much less quickly.

Fertilizer

In spring and summer, it is beneficial to spray the plant with foliar fertilizer diluted to a quarter, twice a month.
