This Hoya is relatively fragile and requires knowledge of this beautiful family or following the cultivation advice to the letter.

Its twisted leaves are beautiful and its deep green is of a rare aesthetic. Hoya compacta has a very slow growth and multiplies with difficulty since its stems produce few new shoots.

Cultivation and maintenance of Hoya carnosa compacta

Substrate for Hoya

The location of your Hoya carnosa compacta will greatly affect its substrate requirements. You can use either a professional quality horticultural soil or a special mixture composed of 50% blond peat , 25% horticultural soil and 25% perlite .

Xaxim, whether in a plate or pot , is also an excellent solution as a growing medium because the root system of Hoyas in general grows very vigorously there.

Temperatures

Hoya carnosa compacta does not like temperatures that are too low. Do not let them go below 15°C. As long as it does not suffer from a lack of water, it will tolerate high temperatures but will grow less well above 30°C.

Watering Hoya carnosa compacta

Like many other Hoyas, Hoya carnosa compacta appreciates osmosis water or rainwater. Make sure to never have water in the saucer and to space out waterings sufficiently so that the surface of the substrate dries between two waterings. Respect a vegetative rest in winter by spacing waterings two weeks apart depending on the size of your pot. This Hoya fears periods that are too dry more than others.

Ideal brightness

This Hoya appreciates bright situations but fears direct sun . In nature it grows as well by crawling on branches and rocks as by climbing on the branches of a broad-leaved tree.

Fertilizer

In spring and summer, it is beneficial to spray the plant with foliar fertilizer diluted to a quarter, twice a month.
