Partial shade to full shade. It requires complete protection from direct sunlight, which damages its foliage. It prefers filtered or diffused light.
Evergreen. Keeps its foliage green and glossy all year round.
Moist but never saturated. The soil must remain consistently cool, especially during the growing season.
Drainage is critical: avoid stagnant water to prevent root rot.
Good (down to -15 to -20°C). It is very hardy and adapts well to shady rock gardens.
Well-drained, calcareous or neutral soil. Unlike other ferns, it tolerates alkaline (calcareous) and even sandy soils well.
Use a humus-rich but lightweight mix to ensure excellent drainage. Our houseplant mix works very well.
Moderate to high. It appreciates a cool atmosphere and good ambient humidity, especially indoors or in a terrarium.
The tip of its long terminal frond can take root (propagation by apical budding or stolon ), allowing the plant to spread slowly across the soil or into crevices.
