Superb epiphytic fern , it is grown in pots, baskets or on bark . It likes heat and humidity.
Also called elkhorn fern because of the shape of its mature leaves, Platycerium bifurcatum is native to the tropical rainforests of eastern Australia and New Guinea and is unusual in having two types of fronds: sterile fronds that spread out like plates and fertile fronds that are erect and bear the spores.

Place the plant in a bright location, but avoid direct sunlight, as this can burn its sensitive fronds. Filtered light or indirect light is ideal.
Maintain high relative humidity around the plant.
Water the plant regularly to keep the substrate slightly moist. However, avoid leaving the soil soggy, as this can lead to root rot. Make sure the pot has good drainage to allow excess water to drain away.
Use a well-draining mix for growing your Platycerium bifurcatum. Our special indoor plant substrate is particularly suitable.
Keep the plant in a constant temperature range between 10°C and 29°C. Avoid cold drafts and extreme temperatures.
Fertilize the plant with a balanced fertilizer diluted to a reduced concentration once a month during the growing season (spring and summer). Stop fertilizing during the winter months when the plant is dormant.
If necessary, remove dead or damaged fronds to encourage the growth of new, healthy fronds. Be careful, however, even dead leaves are particularly tough.
