This cultivar has a special place in the large Dion aea family with its particularly fused teeth and a relatively strong intraspecific variation which sees this characteristic less stable than in Dionaea Cross Teeth . Not all traps carry the characteristic.

Plant that multiplies more or less easily thanks to the annual production of numerous small shoots.

From October to March (rest period) , the Dionaea Cross Teeth China takes a more reduced form, the leaves are shorter and remain on the ground. It offers pretty white flowers in spring.

Maintenance of the Venus flytrap

Dionaea muscipula and watering

Use only rainwater, demineralized or osmosis. Water that is too hard will cause the plant to die in a few weeks. Do not use bottled water, it generally contains too much salt, which is harmful to the plant. In summer, place the plant in a large saucer with water. In winter, keep the substrate moist.

Temperature and Dionaea muscipula

In summer, the Venus flytrap is very comfortable with temperatures above 30°C. However, do not exceed 45°C. In winter, place the carnivorous plant for at least three months (generally from November-December to March-April) in a bright room where the temperature can vary from 0 to 15°C. It tolerates frost. Below -5°C, be sure to use a large container and protect it (bubble wrap).

Substrate for Dionaea muscipula

Carnivorous plant mix is the basic substrate for many species, you can make it yourself by mixing blond peat , perlite and vermiculite , (4V/1V/1V) or blond peat , and non-calcareous aquarium sand (2V/1V). Sphagnum moss is also suitable.
