Exotics & Terrarium

Exotic plants

Some species, tolerant, can even be grown as indoor green plants, outside of a terrarium. However, they will often require maximum light, to be sprayed regularly, watered with rainwater or even placed in a particularly warm place!

Terrarium plants

A terrarium can be considered a small greenhouse , where the climate is generally warm and humid all year round. In a word: tropical! Many plants of "exotic" origin require such conditions. Ferns, mosses, plants known to depollute...

However, there are several types of terrariums ranging from desert to humid tropical, each with the aim of maintaining different species of animals . These animals also have an impact on the possibility of maintaining this or that type of plant because a poison dart frog will not do the same damage as an agama!

A nice selection is offered to you in this section where the plants are generally described in this sense. In any case you can contact us for more information

  • Tillandsia

    Our Tillandsia

    What is a Tillandsia?

Tillandsia are so-called epiphytic plants, meaning that they cling to organic supports (tree branches) but also inorganic ones (telephone cables, electrical cables, etc.) and " feed" on the ambient air ! Their leaves are covered with cells that allow them to absorb moisture, and runoff water provides them with the mineral salts they need.

Tillandsia are part of the Bromeliaceae family. They are found on the American continent, between Argentina, Brazil and the southern United States.

There are over 400 species ! All these plants are easily acclimatized in our climates as long as the temperature does not fall below 10°C (some species still resist -10°C!)

In their habitat, the Tillandsia , rocked by the winds, suspended, light and so elegant are called " daughters of the air ". They are all the more magnificent when flowering comes: part of their foliage becomes colored to better attract pollinators.
